I am going to be a junior, and I am curious about whether or not I should include a few activities on my application when I start applying.
First, I did not do basketball my freshman year, but the coach talked me into it my sophomore year. Now this year we have a new coach and I don't think I can commit as much time as he wants.( He's incredably serious about it) I like basketball but not enough to continue to use up this much time and stress.
Also- I went out for student council my sophomore year and made it. I loved it and went out for it again for this year, but I didnt make it! Should I put it on my app anyways? Or will it make me seem inconsistant? I have planty other activities but I heard its better to have 2 sports. And well student council never looks bad. Thanks!

You should definitely add anything and everything you've participated in. Colleges give you the opportunity to explain anything so don't worry about seeming inconsistent.
I think that any achievement or activity that you have put time and effort in should be included in your application. The colleges will not think you are inconsistent if you have tried a lot of activities, they might think you are just adventurous! What really matters is what you choose to write about in your essays and short answers. In your essays make sure you write about an experience or activity that really motivated you and changed your life. Good luck!
